SKGAA Newsletter 11/03/2020

A chairde,

With the continued concerns around the Coronavirus, SKGAA would like to make its members known that we are following and adhearing to advice issued to clubs from the GAA and the HSE in the following correspondence.

A chara,

The GAA notes the most recent advice issued by the Government yesterday evening that there is no requirement at this stage to cancel planned mass gatherings.

The GAA has been asked by the HSE to follow all of their guidelines and recommendations in respect of the COVID-19 outbreak.

As part of this policy we have been instructed to tell all of our clubs and counties that anyone with queries regarding COVID-19 should be directed to the HSE.

A detailed HSE website with recommendations can be found at: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html

The purpose of this approach is to ensure that there is one version of official communication rather than multiple statements and possible conflicting advice for members of the public.

Please see attached the latest version of advice regarding mass gatherings as issued by the HSE yesterday.

Le meas,

We would ask all club members to adhere to the advice given by the HSE and to those parents and players arriving to training  and matches to:

- Bring their own water bottles and do not share.

- Avoid shaking hands at training and matches.

- Avoid attending matches or training if you or your child is not feeling well.

It has been an exciting week since SKGAA made it on the world stage with the royal visit. The continued positive feedback and reaction has been overwhelming and is a testament to all members of the club. A club stalwart Pat Comer, compiled a very special video presentation for the event, detailing some of the club's history and unique culture. It is a wonderful video and is available to watch on the club's facebook page.

Best wishes and safe travels to all our club members who are travelling to New York for the SKGAA New York Trip and the Sean Armstrong Memorial match between the SKGAA Senior Footballers and the New York Footballers. It promises to be a wonderful occasion and a fastastic tribute to a club legend that was Sean.

Senior

The Senior Footballers battled back impressively in the 2nd half of their league opener vs Caherlistrane on Sunday morning to come out victorious. 7 points down at half time they rallied well in 2nd half to get the victory by a single point. They now travel to New York this weekend to take on New York GAA in the Bronx in a friendly game in a memorial for Sean Armstrong Snr. We wish everyone travelling to the game the players, management & supporters all the very best of luck on their travels in what will be a once in life time trip.

Hard luck to the U21 hurlers who were beaten by a strong Tommy Larkins side in the Prairie last Saturday.
