The Annual SKGAA Dinner and Awards Night took place last Friday evening and was another big success with a great crowd and everyone enjoying themselves. A huge thank you to all the organisers for putting together another great club night and congrats to Frank McCann who received the well earned Club Person of the Year for all his voluntary work throughout the past year and indeed the past 25 years or more. Frank incapasulates what it means to be a volunteer and has served on the club committee as Chairperson and many other roles and continues to do so as Assistant Secretary, along with assisting in maintaining and lining pitches, collecting the gate at senior games, coaching teams and helping out in hurling administration. Well done Frank.



Can all members please ensure they and their families and registered before you return to training. Players/Coaches attending training or matches will not be covered by insurance unless registered with the club and the GAA. Follow the attached link to register now:

Operation Transformation ONLY 2 WEEKS LEFT 



We invite you to come out and join us for our last 2 walks as part of RTEs Operation Transformation and Get Ireland Walking "Ireland Lights Up" initiative.  



Thanks so much to all our walk leaders and walkers who have participated for the last 5 weeks.  



Next week we invite you to join us after the walk for a cuppa in the long room upstairs beside the kitchen.  We will have some healthy snacks too!!!  All part of our healthy food initiatives which we will be rolling out throughout the Club over the next 18 months.

Adult Football

Junior Football

Congratulations to the Junior Footballers who were presented With their league and west board winners medals at the Dinner Dance on Friday night. Great to see a big turnout on the night and we wish them well for the season ahead. Congratulations also to Mattie Heskin who was awarded with the Adult Footballer of the year for 2019 at the Dinner dance. Mattie excelled on a consistent basis for the Juniors in their double successful season & was a deserved winner.



Minor

The fantastic Minor team who won county & Connacht titles in 2019 were also honoured at the dinner dance for their achievements. Norman mentioned on the night that they were unbeaten in 13 years which is an incredible stat & record. Massive congrats to Norman his players and backroom team. 



Senior

Well done to Robert Finnerty who played for Galway in their hard fought win over in Donegal in the national league up in Donegal last Sunday. This leaves them in good shape with Tyrone next up in Tuam Sunday week. 



U20

It took penalties to separate Galway & Mayo in the u20 championship in Castlebar last Saturday after high drama & extra time . Congrats to Tomo, Cathal & Aidan who now face Leitrim in the next round. 



Anyone who hasn’t paid their the membership we encourage them to please finalise same ASAP. 



Volunteers to help out at adult games during the year are needed for the season ahead with particular people needed to assist on camera work & processing data recorded at games. Anyone who maybe interested please contact adult football director Hughie Heskin on +353 (86) 600 8856

Juvenile Football

Every Thursday Operation Transformation walk from Arus 7.30 



Club Dinner Dance Galway bay Friday Feb 7th Encourage as many parents and coaches to attend special guest Daragh O Se. Tickets 40 avail from James in Arus or any of coaches in club. It should be a great night so make the effort to try and attend.



NB Registration is open and all players must be registered to play or train before end of Feb new guidelines from Croke Park say every player must be registered before they play.

Training times for year 



U7  football training every Tuesday 6-7 in the arus great numbers.



U8 training resumes Tuesday February 4th from 6-7 on wallball area behind the Arus. Please ensure players are dressed accordingly for the weather. Surface not suitable for boots so runners only. For insurance purposes only registered players will be permitted to train.



U12 back training Sunday and Tuesday’s. Excellent numbers and training and the kids have trained very well.



U13's training Sundays in McGraths this week and Arus Astro 930.



U14 are back training on Tuesdays also in preparation for feile and year ahead . U14 Feile fundraiser will be the fashion show so awaiting dates fur same all support welcome.



U15/U16 footballers are back training together on Tuesdays (7.45pm) and Sundays (5.45pm) in the Astro. Attendance and effort has been very good so far.



LAST MAN STANDING new competition is starting in Feb for all in Juvenile football.



Pls support as this is main fundraiser fur the Juvenile football for year

Well done to the Junior and u21 hurlers who were honoured at the club's Dinner Dance last Friday on account of reaching their respective county finals. Congrats to Seanie Joyce, a pivotal members of both teams, who was voted adult player of the year by his team-mates and coaches for the second year in a row. Wel deserved Seanie.

U11/12 Girls arrived in their Numbers to take part in a fun Blitz with our U10 Boys on Monday Evening . The Monday session will run for 6 weeks in GMA with special guest coaches making appearances. Thanks to Frank Keane & Darren Frehill for organising .

Wallball/Astro Continues Thursday @  6.00pm -7.00pm.



U13/14 Camogie

U13s/ U14s training Thursday’s at Aras from 7-8pm and Sunday’s at McGrath’s field from 3-4pm.



U16 Camogie

U16 Training on Thursday Wallball 8pm/9pm.



Minor Camogie 

Minor Camogie training Thursday evening 8 to 9.30 and Saturday morning 9.30 to 11 on Astro.



Junior Camogie 

Juniors train Thursday 8-9.30pm & Saturday 9.30-11am on Astro. Congratulations to Orla Callanan on winning Junior Player of the Year 2019.





Ladies Football

U6 girls football (born 2014)  training begins this year in Áras Wed 4th March. Please send your child's name and parents mobile details to Eileen on 087 8351914 soon. Lots of new girls wanted so come and try it out!

U8 Girls training continues Sunday mornings at 10am in the hall at the Arus.

The annual ladies football quiz will take place on Thursday, March 5th at 8pm in Tom Sheridan's Bar and Restaurant, Knocknacarra. All support would be greatly appreciated.
